Haryana wrestler lifts Kesari Dangal title in JK
Parvash, a wrestler from Haryana, today lifted the tittle of fifth Annual Mathwar Kesari Dangal, defeating Abdul Gani of Punjab.
The Indian style Dangal was held at the Mathwar village in Akhnoor tehsil of Jammu district.
The Dangal was organised by the Mathwar Dangal committee in association with the Jammu and Kashmir Indian Style wrestling association in which 34 bouts were played by 67 participating wrestlers.
Minister for PHE Irrigation and Flood control Sham Lal Sharma and Minister for Horticulture, Housing, Culture and Youth Services and Sports Raman Bhalla were the chief guests.
Haryanvi in Asiad, Hooda Govt praised for their performance

Hooda Govt said, winners of gold, silver and bronze medals at the Asian Games would get Rs two crore, Rs one crore and Rs 50 lakh respectively instead of Rs 25 lakh, Rs 15 lakh and Rs 10 lakh earlier.
The Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda announced that winners of gold, silver and bronze medals at the Commonwealth Games, the award money has been raised to Rs one crore, Rs 50 lakh and Rs 25 lakh from Rs 15lakh, Rs 10 lakh and Rs five lakh respectively.
He said that for Olympics, the state government has already announced to give Rs five crore for winner of gold, Rs three crore for silver and Rs two crore for bronze medal.
The Chief Minister also announced the decision of the State Government to give employment to outstanding sports persons.
He said that Sajeev Rajput, an outstanding shooter, has been appointed as Inspector in Police Department. Constable Ramesh Kumar, Kabbadi player has also been appointed as an Inspector while Anil Kumar, wrestler, has been appointed as Inspector. Parmila Devi has been appointed as Sub Inspector in recognition of her outstanding contribution in the field of sports as a Kabbadi player.

Mr Srivastav said he has 50 people working in his farmhouse out of which 25 stay at the property. The other 25 who come from nearby villages are rural people who get employment from this venture. “We do not employ anyone from the hospitality sector because they only have plastic smiles while our people offer warmth and human touch,” he said.
“We have a camel rider, pottery maker, churiwaali, etc who work in our farms to entertain our guests. These villagers earn at least Rs 2,000 a day. Hence, there is no fight between village farmers and local people. These farmers have direct access to our farm,” the owner of Surjivan Farm and Resort explained. Mr Srivastav said that their peak season is from October to February. However, he said he also let his property for conferences and marriages.
FARIDABAD EXPERIENCE
Sheilma Farm in Faridabad operates in the same line as Surjivan. Harsh Rampal, its owner said, “Farmhouse vacations is a new trend and it is catching up as one enjoys country life at its best. It is ideal for families and children to enjoy and learn about our country life and how and where the food we eat is produced. It is an opportunity to watch at close quarters a variety of farm activities.”
Mr Rampal said the main business season starts from October till March and the peak is November to February. “Weekends and holidays are otherwise preferred, “he added. Sheilma, unlike Surjivans, does not rent the farmhouse for weddings.”
However, we do organise corporate, group picnics and events,” he added. For Mr Rampal, the best part of the deal is that the local population also gets business and employment because of cultural and rural activities offered to the guests.

Tau Devi Lal Stadium in Gurgaon is a multi-sport complex. It came into prominence because of the Indian Cricket League’s inaugural 20-20 tournament. Days after sportspersons hailing from Haryana brought laurels to the state by fetching medals in the Commonwealth Games at Glasgow, Scotland; chief minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda honored the gold, silver and bronze medalists with Rs. 1 crore, Rs. 50 lakh and Rs. 25 lakh, respectively.
In a felicitation ceremony held at Sonepat town, Hooda honored gold medalists – Sushil Kumar, Yogeshwar Dutt, Amit Dahiya, Babita Kumari and Vinesh Phogat with cash award of Rs. 1 crore. Similarly, Rs. 50-lakh were handed over to 14 silver medalists namely Gagan Narang, Seema Antil, Sardar Singh, Vijender Singh, Mandeep and Sakshi Malik, Lalita, Satya Vrat, Bajrang Punia, Geetika Jakhar, Sanjiv Rajput, Anisa Sayyad, Gurpal Singh and Harpreet Singh. Bronze medal winners, including Pawan Kumar and Pinki Rani, were also awarded with a cash prize.
An official spokesperson said Rs. 13.75 crore were spent on felicitation ceremony to honour the CWG medal winners in presence of Pradesh Congress Committee president Ashok Tanwar, Vidhan Sabha speaker Kuldeep Sharma and the Sonepat Congress MLA.
Crediting the state sports policy for the international achievements of sportspersons, Hooda, while addressing the public, said the medals were the result of pro-sports policy ‘Padak Layo-Pad Payo‘ implemented by his government.
He said Haryana constitutes only 2% of country’s population but has bagged 33% of medals in the Glasgow games. He vowed to stand by sportspersons of the state in giving out their optimal performances in international competitions.
